Ian's dog Alco is much better looking
than Ian, so we used his photo.

What is an Ian Clark anyway?

Well, obviously he's a guy that likes trains. But, then again, who doesn't?

When not hunting trains, Ian is a freelance database & web developer, and photographer. He and his wife, Lee, recently escaped from Edison, NJ to relocate to enjoy the view from the Clark Family Homestead in West Newbury, VT.

Ian has been working with web clients across the U.S. since the primordial days of the Internet. He was building ecommerce web sites, and sites for Congressional campaigns way back when Amazon still referred to a big river and you still had to explain what 'electronic mail' was when you handed out your business card -- and you had a neato email address like '473927bb7@vxunix.hub.compuserve.net.'

While waiting for the Internet to be invented, Ian dabbled in photo labs. He started two, one on his own, the other with a couple of partners. The first a one-hour lab in 1986 and the other a commercial lab specializing in trade show exhibits in 1997. He also managed the photo department for an obscure government agency in Virginia. Usually known only by its initials, NASA, they're best know for their grainy, high-contrast images that are just out of this world.

Ian's other interests include receiving a B.S. in Photo Finishing & Management from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and meeting his wife -- who went on to be a Picture Editor at the New York Daily News -- while in grad school at The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He also likes dogs.

Ian thinks you should enjoy what you do, and the best way to do that is to do what you're good at. He has little time for people who feel the need to make every transaction a hassle, or can't manage their lives without a 500-page policy manual. He wants you to enjoy his photography, and hopes you like it enough to buy some.

Occasionally, someone feels the need to tell Ian off about something-or-other. If you feel the urge, you may email Ian here.
